AI receptionist for electricians

Both hands on the switchboard. The phone still gets answered.

You’re up a ladder in a roof cavity and the phone’s buzzing in your pocket. That’s a switchboard upgrade going to the next sparky on Google. Receptly answers it, finds out what they need, and books it in.

The electrician’s problem

You can’t answer, and half your calls come while you can’t

Electrical work is hands-busy work. Roof cavities, switchboards, ladders, live testing. You physically cannot pick up for most of the day, and the caller has no idea. They hear ringing, then voicemail, then they try the next name.

The calls are a mix: a safety switch that keeps tripping, a real estate agent with a compliance job, someone wanting a quote on a fan and six downlights. The first is urgent and pays now. The second is a repeat customer for years. The third is a Tuesday. You need all three captured, and sorted.

$250+A typical fault-finding callout. Switchboard upgrades and rewires run into the thousands.
AgentsProperty managers ring three electricians and use whoever answers. Answer, and you’re on the list for every job on their rent roll.
Next nameA safety switch tripping every ten minutes is not a voicemail situation.

What it asks an electrical caller

It sorts the fault from the fit-off

The receptionist is set up for electrical work before it takes a call. It knows a tripping safety switch from a quote request, and it asks what you’d ask:

  • What’s happening? Power out, safety switch tripping, sparks or a burning smell, lights flickering, a new install, a compliance or smoke alarm job. Sparks, smoke or a burning smell get told to switch off at the board and ring 000 if there’s fire, before anything else.
  • Is it the whole place or one circuit? Whole house off or just the kitchen. Helps you know whether it’s a supply issue, a board issue, or an appliance.
  • Where is it? Address, house or unit, and whether it’s a tenant, an owner or an agent calling.
  • How urgent? No power now, today, or a quote this week. No-power jobs go to your phone as a transfer or an immediate text.
  • Who’s paying? Owner, tenant, agent or strata. Agent jobs get their work order number captured so you’re not chasing it later.

It all lands on your phone as a text before you’re down the ladder. You decide who to ring back first.

Bookings

Straight into your job software or calendar

Tell it your working hours, your service area and how long a standard job takes, and it books straight into ServiceM8, simPRO, Fergus, AroFlo or Google Calendar (Tradify on request). The job card has the address, the details, the access notes and the caller’s number. No re-typing from a voicemail.

If you’d rather approve every booking first, it holds the slot and texts you. You reply Y and the customer gets a confirmation.

How it works

You don’t set anything up. We do.

  1. One call with usWe learn how you run: the jobs you take, the areas you cover, what’s urgent, what gets quoted, who gets called back first.
  2. Your number stays the sameKeep the number on the van. Calls you don’t pick up in a few rings divert to the receptionist. Nobody notices a change, except that someone answers.
  3. Live within the weekWe listen to the first month of calls and tune it. Anything it can’t handle, it takes a message and texts you.

Questions electricians ask us

Straight answers

Does it sound like a robot?

It sounds like a receptionist with an Australian accent. It tells callers up front that it’s an automated receptionist. People are fine with it once they know; what they aren’t fine with is voicemail.

Can it handle real estate agents?

Yes. It captures the agency, the property manager, the property address, the work order number and the tenant’s contact for access. That’s the job half done before you’ve seen it.

Can it quote a downlight job?

No. It’ll take the count, the room, whether there’s existing wiring, and photos by text if they’ve got them, then tell the caller you’ll quote from that or on site. You set whether it mentions a callout fee.

What does it do if someone reports sparks or smoke?

It tells them to turn the main switch off at the board if it’s safe to, to ring 000 if there’s fire or smoke, and then it texts you immediately. That script is fixed and can’t be turned off.
