AI receptionist · Perth

Perth tradies: the most spread-out city in the country. The phone still gets answered.

Two Rocks to Mandurah is 120 kilometres. A morning in Joondalup and an afternoon in Rockingham is a day on the freeway, and every job in between is a call you either can’t take or can’t finish. Receptly answers all of them, knows the suburbs and the WA rules, and books it in.

The Perth problem

You can answer on the Mitchell. You can’t book a job on it.

Perth is long. A one-van business covering north of the river and south of it spends more of the day on the Mitchell, the Kwinana and Tonkin than any tradie in the country. You can pick up on hands-free at 100, but you can’t write down an address in Baldivis, check the calendar or give a price, so it ends with “text me the details” and they never do. Either way the job’s gone to the next name.

Then there’s the Perth summer. Forty degrees for a week, every evaporative and every split in Ellenbrook running flat out, and the ones that fail are ringing you at once. The mining-town roster means half your customers ring at 6am on their way to the airport, or from site, and don’t ring back.

120 kmTwo Rocks to Mandurah. The longest metro service area in Australia, and every kilometre of it is a call you can’t finish.
All partiesWA’s Surveillance Devices Act 1998 says everyone on a recorded call must consent. The receptionist announces it at the start of every call. You’re covered.
Next nameNo cooling in Ellenbrook in February. They’re ringing until someone answers.

Local knowledge

It knows Perth

It’s set up for Perth before it takes a call. Not a generic script with the city name dropped in: the suburbs, the 08 numbers, the way work is spread, and the things a caller from Perth will ask.

  • North or south of the river It asks the suburb and works out the side and the distance: north (Joondalup, Wanneroo, Ellenbrook, Scarborough), south (Rockingham, Baldivis, Mandurah, Armadale), east (Midland, Kalamunda), central and west (Fremantle, Subiaco, Cottesloe). You tell it where you work. A caller in Mandurah when you’re a Joondalup business gets a polite no, not a booking that costs you two hours.
  • Bores, retic and evaporatives Perth jobs the east coast doesn’t have. It knows a bore pump call from a mains plumbing call, a reticulation job from a landscaping quote, an evaporative service from a split system, and it asks the questions each one needs.
  • FIFO callers A lot of Perth customers ring from the airport or from site, and can’t take a call back for a fortnight. It asks when they’re back, captures the partner’s number for access if they give one, and books for the swing they’re home.
  • Who to ring when it’s the network No water in the street is the Water Corporation on 13 13 75. Wires down or the whole block dark is Western Power on 13 13 51. A gas smell is ATCO on 13 13 52. Storm damage is the SES on 132 500. It tells the caller who to ring first, and still takes their details for you.

Western Australia rules

The WA rules it respects

Licences and registration

Builders, plumbers and electricians in WA are all regulated by Building and Energy. Callers ask for the number. The receptionist reads yours out when they do, never claims one you don’t hold, and never promises a certificate or notice it can’t issue.

Recording calls

WA is an all-party-consent state under the Surveillance Devices Act 1998. Every call opens with a short announcement that it’s an automated receptionist and the call is recorded, so callers know before they say anything. Details in our call recording disclosure.

Quoting

It doesn’t quote. WA home building contract rules apply above certain values, and a receptionist guessing a price is how disputes start. It captures what you need to quote properly and tells the caller you’ll confirm.

How it works

One call. We do the rest.

  1. One call with usWe’re in Sydney; setup is a phone call wherever you are. We learn how you run: the jobs you take, the suburbs you cover, what’s urgent, what gets quoted.
  2. Your number stays the sameKeep the number on the van. Calls you don’t pick up in a few rings divert to the receptionist.
  3. Live within the weekWe listen to the first month of calls and tune it. Anything it can’t handle, it takes a message and texts you.
