AI receptionist for roofing
Storm’s hit. Every leak in the postcode is ringing. You’re on a roof.
The calls come in the twelve hours after a storm, and that’s exactly when you’re up a ladder with a tarp. Receptly answers all of them, finds out who’s got water coming in, and books what you can get to.

The roofer’s problem
Your best week for work is your worst week for the phone
Roofing runs on weather. A hailstorm or a big east-coast low fills your phone with a month of work in a day, and every caller has water in the house right now. They ring you, then the next roofer, then the next. The one who answers gets the tarp job, the insurance job that follows it, and the re-roof two years later.
The rest of the year it’s quotes. Re-roofs, gutters, a real estate agent with a leak at a rental, an insurance assessor wanting a report. Big jobs, slow decisions, and every one starts with a phone call you took or didn’t.
What it asks a roofing caller
It sorts the active leak from the re-roof quote
The receptionist is set up for roofing before it takes a call. It knows an emergency from a quote, and it asks what you’d ask:
- What’s happening? Water coming in now, a leak when it rains, storm damage, gutters, a re-roof or a new roof, or an inspection for an insurance claim. Anyone talking about getting up on the roof themselves gets told not to.
- Where’s the water coming in? Which room, how much, and whether it’s near the switchboard or lights. If it is, it tells them to turn the power off to that area.
- What’s the roof? Tile, metal, or don’t know. Single or double storey. Helps you plan the truck.
- How urgent? Water in now, after the next rain, or a quote this month. Water-in-now goes straight to your phone.
- Who’s paying? Owner, tenant, agent, strata or an insurance claim. Claim numbers and assessor details get captured.
It lands on your phone as a text while you’re still on the roof. After a storm, that list is your week.
Bookings
Straight into your job software or calendar
Tell it your working hours, your service area and how long a standard job takes, and it books straight into ServiceM8, simPRO, Fergus, AroFlo or Google Calendar (Tradify on request). The job card has the address, the details, the access notes and the caller’s number. No re-typing from a voicemail.
If you’d rather approve every booking first, it holds the slot and texts you. You reply Y and the customer gets a confirmation.
How it works
You don’t set anything up. We do.
- One call with usWe learn how you run: the jobs you take, the areas you cover, what’s urgent, what gets quoted, who gets called back first.
- Your number stays the sameKeep the number on the van. Calls you don’t pick up in a few rings divert to the receptionist. Nobody notices a change, except that someone answers.
- Live within the weekWe listen to the first month of calls and tune it. Anything it can’t handle, it takes a message and texts you.
Questions roofers ask us
Straight answers
Can it handle a storm day?
Yes. Two hundred calls in a morning is the same to it as two. Every one is answered, captured and texted to you. You decide the order.
Can it handle insurance work?
It captures the claim number, the insurer, the assessor’s name and whether make-safe has been approved, so you’re not chasing that after you’ve done the tarp.
Can it quote a re-roof?
No. It captures the roof type, storey count, rough size, whether there’s asbestos they know of, and photos by text, then tells the caller you’ll inspect and quote. You decide whether it mentions an inspection fee.
What if someone wants to get on the roof themselves?
It tells them not to. Wet tiles, live wires and heights kill people every storm season. It says to put a bucket down, move things out of the way, and wait. That line is fixed.
