Divert your number

Send your calls to Receptly. Keep your number.

Your number stays on the ute, the cards and Google. A divert is a setting on your phone that sends calls on to us. Ten seconds to switch on, ten seconds to switch off, and nobody who rings you sees a different number.

We give you the number to divert to at setup. Do not divert to the 1300 number on this site — that’s the demo line.

Two ways to do it

  • You get first goMost people start here. Your phone rings for twenty seconds. If you don’t pick up, Receptly does. Set the busy and out-of-range ones too, or calls will still hit voicemail when you’re on another call or down a basement.
  • Everything goes to ReceptlyYour phone never rings. Every call is answered, the job lands on your phone as a text. Most tradies end up here after a fortnight.

It’s one or the other. A missed call goes to Receptly or to your voicemail, never both. Once the divert is on, Receptly takes the calls your voicemail used to.

Pick your carrier

The codes are the same on all three networks. What differs is the menu on the phone, how long it rings you first, and what happens to voicemail.

Telstra

Also Boost, Belong, ALDImobile, Woolworths Mobile and anyone else on the Telstra network.

From the phone’s settings

iPhone: Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding → on → type the Receptly number. This sends everything; iPhone has no ‘only when I don’t answer’ switch, so for that use the code below.

Android: open the Phone app → ⋮ or Settings → Calls (or Calling accounts) → Call forwarding. You get four switches: Always, When busy, When unanswered, When unreachable. Type the Receptly number into the ones you want.

Or dial a code

Open the keypad, type the code with the Receptly number in place of NUMBER, press call. The screen says it’s registered. Takes ten seconds.

Everything, all the time**21*NUMBER#
Only when I don’t answer**61*NUMBER**20#
20 is the seconds it rings you first. 15 to 30 works.
When I’m on another call**67*NUMBER#
When I’m out of range or switched off**62*NUMBER#
Check it’s on*#21# or *#61#
Turn it off##21#, ##61# — or ##002# to clear every divert at once

Worth knowing

A no-answer divert replaces MessageBank for unanswered calls — that’s the point. If you ever want MessageBank back instead, dial **004*101#.

Optus

Also Amaysim, Coles Mobile, Moose, Southern Phone, Circles.Life and anyone else on the Optus network.

Straight answers

  • Does it cost anything? The diverted leg counts as an outgoing call on your plan. On an unlimited plan, nothing. On an old prepaid plan with a call cap, check. Receptly charges nothing for it.
  • Does my number change? No. Callers ring the number they always have. They never see ours.
  • How do I check it worked?Ring your own number from another phone. If Receptly answers, it’s on.
  • How do I turn it off?Dial ##002# from the keypad, or flick the switch off in the phone’s settings. Everything goes back to how it was.
  • I’ve got a landline or a 1300 numberForwarding for those lives in your provider’s portal, not on a handset. Tell us who it’s with at setup and we’ll walk you through it.
