AI receptionist for locksmiths

Locked out at 11pm. If you don’t answer, the next locksmith does.

The lockout call is the purest missed-call problem in the trades. The caller is standing outside, phone in hand, ringing down the list. Receptly answers, checks what they need, and gets you there.

The locksmith’s problem

The lockout goes to whoever answers first. Every time.

Nobody plans to ring a locksmith. They’re locked out, or broken into, or they’ve just bought a house and want the locks changed today. They pick up their phone, search, and ring the first result. If it rings out, they ring the second. The job is decided in ninety seconds and you weren’t part of it because you were fitting a deadlock across town.

The after-hours work pays best and gets missed most. You can’t be on call and on the tools and on the phone at once.

$200+A typical daytime lockout. After hours it’s more. Lock changes after a break-in or a purchase run higher again.

What it asks a locksmith caller

It sorts the lockout from the lock change

The receptionist is set up for locksmithing before it takes a call. It knows a lockout from a rekey, and it asks what you’d ask:

  • What do they need? Locked out of a house, unit, car or business, lost keys, a break-in, a lock change after buying or a tenant leaving, a safe, or a commercial master-key job.
  • Where are they now? Exact address, whether they’re at the property, and whether anyone’s inside. Someone locked out with a child or a stove on inside gets escalated straight to you.
  • Can they prove it’s theirs? It tells them up front you’ll need to see ID matching the address or proof of ownership before you open anything. That saves you the awkward conversation on the doorstep.
  • How urgent? Now, today, or this week. Now goes to your phone as a transfer or an immediate text with the address.
  • Who’s paying? Owner, tenant, agent, strata, or a business. Break-ins get the police event number captured for the insurance claim.

It lands on your phone as a text with the address, what they need and whether they’ve got ID. You ring back or just go.

Bookings

Straight into your job software or calendar

Tell it your working hours, your service area and how long a standard job takes, and it books straight into ServiceM8, simPRO, Fergus, AroFlo or Google Calendar (Tradify on request). The job card has the address, the details, the access notes and the caller’s number. No re-typing from a voicemail.

If you’d rather approve every booking first, it holds the slot and texts you. You reply Y and the customer gets a confirmation.

How it works

You don’t set anything up. We do.

  1. One call with usWe learn how you run: the jobs you take, the areas you cover, what’s urgent, what gets quoted, who gets called back first.
  2. Your number stays the sameKeep the number on the van. Calls you don’t pick up in a few rings divert to the receptionist. Nobody notices a change, except that someone answers.
  3. Live within the weekWe listen to the first month of calls and tune it. Anything it can’t handle, it takes a message and texts you.

Questions locksmiths ask us

Straight answers

Can it give an ETA?

It can give the ETA range you set for the area, or it can say you’ll confirm by text within a few minutes. It won’t promise a time you can’t keep.

What about verification?

It tells every lockout caller that you’ll need ID or proof of ownership at the door, and it captures the name they give against the address. It doesn’t decide; you do, on site, as you do now.

Can it quote?

It can give your standard lockout price and your after-hours rate if you want it to. Anything else, it captures the details and tells the caller you’ll confirm the price before you start.

What if it’s a break-in?

It asks whether police have attended, captures the event number if they have, tells them not to touch the point of entry if police are still coming, and texts you. Someone who’s frightened gets a calm voice and a quick answer.
