AI receptionist for plumbers

Every burst pipe gets answered. Even the ones at 2am.

You’re under a house with the water off and your phone’s ringing in the ute. That’s a hot water job you’ll never hear about. Receptly answers it, finds out what’s wrong, and books it in.

The plumber’s problem

The calls you miss are the ones worth the most

Plumbing is the trade where the caller is most likely to be in trouble right now. Water where it shouldn’t be, no hot water on a winter morning, a blocked drain the day before a party. They are not shopping around. They’re ringing down the list until someone answers, and the first plumber who picks up gets the job.

You can’t answer while you’re under a house, on a roof, or knee-deep in a trench. Your apprentice can’t quote. Your partner is sick of taking messages. And after 6pm the phone just rings out, which is exactly when the emergency work comes in at emergency rates.

$350+A standard blocked drain or hot water callout. An after-hours emergency is double that.
3–5calls a week a one-van plumber typically misses while on the tools. Ask your call log.
Next nameSomeone with water coming through the ceiling does not leave a voicemail. They ring the next plumber.

What it asks a plumbing caller

It sorts the emergency from the Tuesday job

The receptionist is set up for plumbing before it takes its first call. It knows the difference between a dripping tap and a burst main, and it asks the questions you’d ask:

  • What’s the problem? Burst or leaking pipe, no hot water, blocked drain or toilet, gas smell, new install or renovation. A gas smell gets told to ring the gas emergency line first.
  • Is the water off? If there’s water coming in, it walks them to the meter and tells them to turn it off before anything else. That alone has saved ceilings.
  • Where is it? Address, house or unit, strata or owner, and whether someone will be home.
  • How urgent? Emergency now, today, or this week. Emergencies go to your phone as a call transfer or an immediate text, your call.
  • Who’s paying? Owner, tenant, agent or strata, so you know who to invoice before you turn up.

Everything it learns lands on your phone as a text before you’ve climbed out from under the house. If it’s a job you want, you ring them back with the details already in front of you.

Bookings

Straight into your job software or calendar

Tell it your working hours, your service area and how long a standard job takes, and it books straight into ServiceM8, simPRO, Fergus, AroFlo or Google Calendar (Tradify on request). The job card has the address, the details, the access notes and the caller’s number. No re-typing from a voicemail.

If you’d rather approve every booking first, it holds the slot and texts you. You reply Y and the customer gets a confirmation.

How it works

You don’t set anything up. We do.

  1. One call with usWe learn how you run: the jobs you take, the areas you cover, what’s urgent, what gets quoted, who gets called back first.
  2. Your number stays the sameKeep the number on the van. Calls you don’t pick up in a few rings divert to the receptionist. Nobody notices a change, except that someone answers.
  3. Live within the weekWe listen to the first month of calls and tune it. Anything it can’t handle, it takes a message and texts you.

Questions plumbers ask us

Straight answers

Does it sound like a robot?

It sounds like a receptionist with an Australian accent. It tells callers up front that it’s an automated receptionist, because the law says it should and because people are fine with it once they know. What they aren’t fine with is voicemail.

What if it books a job I don’t want?

You set the rules: minimum job value, areas you won’t travel to, jobs you don’t do. Anything outside those rules gets a polite “we’ll call you back” and a text to you, not a booking.

Can it quote?

No, and it won’t pretend to. It can give a callout fee if you want it to, and it’ll tell the caller you’ll quote on site. It collects what you need to quote quickly: photos by text, the model of the hot water unit, the size of the job.

What about gas?

If a caller mentions a gas smell it tells them to leave the property and ring the gas emergency number before anything else, then texts you. That script is fixed and not something you can turn off.
