AI receptionist · Geelong
Geelong tradies: different water, different power, different gas to Melbourne.
Barwon Water, not Melbourne’s retailers. Powercor, not CitiPower. AusNet, not Multinet. Get one of those wrong on a call and you’ve sent someone to the wrong emergency line. Receptly answers every call you can’t and gets it right.

The Geelong problem
An hour from Melbourne and nothing like it on the phone
Geelong looks like a Melbourne suburb on a map and behaves nothing like one. Every utility is different, the growth is concentrated in one enormous front at Armstrong Creek, and the run from Lara down to Torquay is a real drive. A business taking calls across all of that can’t answer half of them, and the ones it misses go to the next name.
The growth is the part people underestimate. The council’s own planning puts Armstrong Creek at around 22,000 lots and a population of fifty-five to sixty-five thousand. That’s a suburb the size of a regional city arriving in stages, each one ringing for plumbers, sparkies and concreters at the same moment.
Local knowledge
It knows Geelong
It’s set up for Geelong before it takes a call. Not a generic script with the city name dropped in: the suburbs, the 03 numbers, the way work is spread, and the things a caller from Geelong will ask.
- The suburbs and the coast run It asks the suburb and works out the run: central and inner (Geelong, Newtown, Geelong West, East Geelong, Manifold Heights, Herne Hill), the south (Belmont, Highton, Waurn Ponds, Grovedale, Wandana Heights, Marshall), the growth front (Armstrong Creek, Charlemont, Mount Duneed), the north (Corio, Norlane, North Shore, Bell Post Hill, Lara), the Bellarine (Leopold, Drysdale, Portarlington, Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads, Clifton Springs) and the surf coast (Torquay, Jan Juc). You set where you’ll go and what you charge to go there.
- Estate stages and builder calls Armstrong Creek, Charlemont and Mount Duneed ring in blocks: a stage releases and site supervisors, builders and new owners all call inside a fortnight. It asks whether the caller is an owner, a builder or a supervisor, captures the lot and stage, and keeps builder work in its own queue.
- Heating, cooling and the gas conversation Same as the rest of Victoria: it asks whether it’s ducted gas, a split, evaporative or hydronic and whether they’re thinking about going electric, because a lot of heater calls here are really replacement conversations. It hands you a quote, not a service call.
- Who to ring when it’s not your job This is where Geelong catches people out. No water in the street is Barwon Water on 1300 656 007, twenty-four hours a day, not a Melbourne retailer. Wires down or the whole block dark is Powercor on 13 24 12, not CitiPower. A gas smell is AusNet on 13 67 07, not Multinet and not Australian Gas Networks. Storm damage is the SES on 132 500. The receptionist gives the caller the right one first time.
Victoria rules
The Victorian rules it respects
Licences and registration
Builders are registered with the Victorian Building Authority, plumbers licensed and registered through the VBA, and electricians licensed by Energy Safe Victoria. Callers ask. The receptionist reads out your number when they do, never claims one you don’t hold, and never promises a compliance certificate it can’t issue.
Recording calls
Victoria’s Surveillance Devices Act 1999 lets a party to a conversation record it, with strict limits on what can be done with the recording afterwards. We don’t lean on that. Every call opens with a short announcement that it’s an automated receptionist and the call is recorded, same as in every state. Details in our call recording disclosure.
Quoting
It doesn’t quote. Victorian domestic building contract rules apply above certain values and new-estate work has conditions attached. It captures what you need to quote properly and tells the caller you’ll confirm.
Your trade
Set up for your trade, in Geelong
Every Geelong setup starts from a trade script we’ve already built, then gets your suburbs, your hours and your rules on top. See how it works for plumbers, electricians, air conditioning, roofing, painters, landscaping, pest control, locksmiths, builders.
How it works
One call. We do the rest.
- One call with usWe’re in Sydney; setup is a phone call wherever you are. We learn how you run: the jobs you take, the suburbs you cover, what’s urgent, what gets quoted.
- Your number stays the sameKeep the number on the van. Calls you don’t pick up in a few rings divert to the receptionist.
- Live within the weekWe listen to the first month of calls and tune it. Anything it can’t handle, it takes a message and texts you.
