AI receptionist · the Gold Coast
Gold Coast tradies: four hundred kilometres of canal and a tower on every corner.
More than four hundred kilometres of canals, the largest constructed canal network in the southern hemisphere, and one in five homes an apartment. Receptly answers every call you can’t, knows the coast and the Queensland rules, and books it in.

The the Gold Coast problem
Strata, saltwater and short-stay: three kinds of caller, one voicemail
The Gold Coast doesn’t ring like the rest of Queensland. A fifth of the housing here is apartments against about one in seven nationally, so a huge share of the calls come from a building manager, a body corporate or an on-site letting agent rather than the person who lives there. Every one of those needs the building, the unit, the access arrangement and who’s authorising the spend, and none of it gets left on a voicemail.
Then there’s the water. The city’s own figures put it at 135 constructed lakes and over four hundred kilometres of canals. Canal-front work means saltwater, pontoons, tidal access and corrosion on everything metal. And in the holiday stock, a failure on a Friday afternoon is a refund by Saturday, so those callers ring until somebody picks up.
Local knowledge
It knows the Gold Coast
It’s set up for the Gold Coast before it takes a call. Not a generic script with the city name dropped in: the suburbs, the 07 numbers, the way work is spread, and the things a caller from the Gold Coast will ask.
- Coast, canal or hinterland It asks the suburb and works out the run: the northern corridor (Coomera, Upper Coomera, Pacific Pines, Helensvale, Hope Island, Sanctuary Cove), the central coast (Southport, Labrador, Surfers Paradise, Main Beach, Broadbeach, Mermaid Beach, Sorrento), the south (Burleigh Heads, Miami, Palm Beach, Currumbin, Tugun, Coolangatta), the west (Nerang, Robina, Varsity Lakes, Mudgeeraba, Worongary) and the hinterland (Tamborine, Springbrook, Currumbin Valley). You set the edge, and it holds it.
- Who’s actually calling Owner, tenant, building manager, body corporate, on-site letting agent or a short-stay operator. It asks first, captures the building name, the unit, the work order and the after-hours access arrangement, and flags a short-stay job as time-critical because a Friday failure is a Saturday refund.
- Canal-front work If the address is on a canal it asks the questions that job needs: is the work above or below the waterline, is there a pontoon or a jetty involved, is access by land or water, and is anything metal already showing corrosion. Salt-air and tidal jobs get priced differently and everyone knows it.
- Who to ring when it’s not your job No water in the street or a sewage overflow is the City of Gold Coast on 1300 000 928, any hour of any day. For power, the outage line is Energex on 13 62 62 and anything dangerous like a fallen powerline is Energex on 13 19 62 or 000. A gas smell is 000 first, then Allgas Energy on 1800 427 532. Storm and flood help is the SES on 132 500.
Queensland rules
The Queensland rules it respects
Licences
Builders and plumbers are licensed by the QBCC, electrical contractors by the Electrical Safety Office rather than the QBCC, and Queensland callers check more than anywhere else in the country. The receptionist reads out whichever number is yours when they ask, never claims one you don’t hold, and never promises a certificate it can’t issue.
Recording calls
Queensland’s Invasion of Privacy Act 1971 lets a party to a conversation record it. We don’t lean on that. Every call opens with a short announcement that it’s an automated receptionist and the call is recorded, same as in the all-party states. Details in our call recording disclosure.
Quoting
It doesn’t quote. Body corporate work and canal-front work are two of the easiest places to get a phone price wrong. It captures what you need and tells the caller you’ll confirm.

How it works
One call. We do the rest.
- One call with usWe’re in Sydney; setup is a phone call wherever you are. We learn how you run: the jobs you take, the suburbs you cover, what’s urgent, what gets quoted.
- Your number stays the sameKeep the number on the van. Calls you don’t pick up in a few rings divert to the receptionist.
- Live within the weekWe listen to the first month of calls and tune it. Anything it can’t handle, it takes a message and texts you.
